DOUG HEPBURN SPEAKS OUT!

In respect to my aspiration to become the strongest man in history, to which I dedicated my life in every sense of the word. As a young man with popularity I was off-times confronted by those gentlemen of the media and my personality reflected a jocosity in my demeanor which prompted their phlegmatic nature as evidenced in their literary efforts by their habit of slanting it in order to get a chuckle and a pat on the back by their editor. More than once I INFORMED THE VARIOUS EDITORS, DON’T GET FUNNY, GET GOOD!

          If the Canadian Olympic Committee has similar aspirations to the one I upheld they will have to face the music and embrace an elevated comprehension of what it takes to develop athletes of the caliber to take on and defeat those in the top echelon worldwide. NO MORE CHASING OF RAINBOWS OR JOUSTING AT WINDMILLS! This is serious business, let’s save everybody the embarrassment. IT TAKES BRAINS TO DEVELOP AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION, ARE WE A LITTLE SHORT IN THAT DEPARTMENT?  

Unfortunately, a misdirected and distorted emphasis is directed on the professional fields of sport by the media, it has been thus since the beginning, the inception of modern sport representing the direct result, the implementation of an inferior, selfish, detrimental philosophy wherein the STRIVING FOR SELF MATERIAL GAIN EXCEEDS THE VALUE AND A PRIMARY CONCERN FOR THE GLORY OF SPORT AND THE IDEALISM INHERENT IN THE ACCOMPLISHMENT AND BETTERMENT OF MANKIND AS A WHOLE. Therein lies the irrevocability, the answer and the only solution. LIKE IT OR LUMP IT!…….IT REPRESENTS THE ONLY WAY TO PRODUCE THE WORLD’S BEST OLYMPIC TEAM.
